Since mapping available global health data in November 2011, Co-Founder and Vice President Dr. Joan LaRovere and her team implemented a pilot project—a noninvasive ventilation program for children under five that has reduced cause-specific child mortality rates due to respiratory failure from 14 to 4 percent—in Tumu Hospital. Non-invasive ventilation has also been introduced to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra as a means to introduce intensive care services for children in the capital and to link these two centers. The program provides equipment, training and direct care while creating a hub and spoke support system between Accra and Tumu.
